Newsletter – December 2025
Hi Folks,
How many of us are saying ‘December already – where has the year gone?’ and it wouldn’t be December if I didn’t ask that well-used question “Are you ready for Christmas?” There will be some who answer ‘yes’ because some of you are extremely well organised, there will be some who did most of their Christmas shopping in the January sales and some who will never be ready.
But let me ask you, “what are we ready for?”. As we travel trhough Advent, I want to ask you for just a moment to forget the baking, the card writing, the buying of pressies and the tree decoration, to pause and remember why we celebrate in the first place. Advent means ‘coming’ or ‘arrival’, preparation and anticipation for the coming of Christ once more. As we recognise and celebrate the coming to earth of the infant Jesus, we are also meant to remember that Jesus will come again, so like those people of ancient times we watch and wait for Emmanuel, God with us. That’s worth a pause in our busyness, don’t you think?
